Decorating, Bad Neighbours and Useless UK Police Force

by on Sep.08, 2012, under My Heroin Addiction Diary

Well as the decorating in my new place is poor well in fact poor would still be better then the overall quality of painting due to the chunks of plaster stuck on the skirting boards, doors and even walls combined with the huge runs and spots of paint and the worst bit which has to be the flat white wall paint they used in place of gloss/undercoat or eggshell (undercoat believe it or not looks ten times better!!!). So of course as I used to enjoy working as a labour decorating to a professional level there was no way I could leave things like that so I got my tools scraper and sandpaper and set off scraping away all the paint build-up and stray plaster recreating the lines on corners which had become distorted by the build-up of paint etc. I have made incredible progress on decorating and should within a week have both the kitchen and bathroom 100% finished complete with all wood (door frames, skirting boards etc) under-coated, sanded under-coated, sanded and then a final coat of either eggshell or non drip gloss. Walls all scraped dents and what not filled and sanded followed by a coat or 2 of watered down white emulsion to form a base coat followed by a nice thick coat of magnolia. I truly believe that my decorating and renovation work (I am doing a lot of repairs etc along with decorating) will add value to this flat and hopefully my landlord/estate agent will realise this and will open some doors for me in the future as I am one in a area which property’s are commonly destroyed and not looked after that actually improved a property without being told too for what ever reason.

Now moving on to a slightly more serious and in fact saddening event which happened. My old neighbour downstairs is an alcoholic which some mental problems and thus is in one way ‘not all there’ and from my perspective people commonly take advantage of him such as could be the case here. At 11.30pm suddenly I heard tremendously loud bassy music coming from his flat and lots of voices of clear scummy alcoholic types. This extremely loud music continued throughout the night with various neighbours and even the police on 3 occasions who said they could not do anything yet I bet if it was me I would of been arrested for disturbing the peace, drunk and disorderly (they were) or something along those lines. I too had arguments with both my neighbour downstairs and also his so called guests who made threats and not in a joking nature that they were going to rape me :S throw me throw the window by my stairs and also continued at various intervals to shout this through the floorboards. The little old woman downstairs who is lovely was also abused and most likely took more abuse then me. I seriously thought at times I was going to have to do something extreme in protection due to being hugely outnumbered by drunk scummy people who do not think like the rest of us. I do not scare easily but I wouldn’t say I was scared so much as agitated by the fact I may be put in a position where I have to choose between me or someone else. It all sounds extreme but you really had to be there to understand and see why etc. All in all though he was evicted by 10/11am the next morning we did have this all night right through till 10am/11am . It was also a bonus we got new locks as well as a new deadbolt which are by far the most secure locks to have on our communal door which really does make you feel safer. So there you have it a story of true madness from those who do not fit into any normal society my decorating campaign as well as proof of how useless the police force in the UK can be in certain situations. I am not saying police do not do good but in mine and lots of others eyes the police do more damage the good most of the time.
